The Catholic Living Community at Viterbo University is dedicated to fostering spiritual growth, faithful service, and ethical leadership in a vibrant faith-filled community rooted in Viterbo’s Catholic, Franciscan identity.

This living community will be located in Treacy Apartments. All current Viterbo Students will be allowed to formally apply to be a part of the Catholic Living Community. If accepted, students will be placed in Treacy housing by Residence Life, who will communicate all housing details to selected students. Members of the community are expected to demonstrate a genuine commitment and openness to the Catholic Church and its teachings, maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5, and actively participate in a vibrant faith community.


The community events and activities include a Fall Labor Day retreat, a service project each semester, monthly community nights with Campus Ministry, and regular weekly gatherings for prayer and community building. Members are also expected to personally strive for growth in their spiritual lives, commitment to service, ethical life, and leadership.

Open and respectful communication is expected among community members, who are also held accountable for upholding the community's standards and guidelines, including respect for the rights and privacy of others and compliance with university policies and procedures.

Community Living Guidelines and Standards

Community Living Guidelines and Standards:
1.      Respect for the rights and privacy of all community members.
2.      Compliance with university policies and procedures.
3.      Remain in good academic standing (striving to maintain a cumulative, semester 2.5 GPA)
4.      Authentic commitment to living the precepts of Catholic Church.
5.      Active participation in community events and activities which includes:
           a. A Fall Labor Day retreat as a community
           b. A service project each semester
           c. Monthly community nights with Campus Ministry (Prayer, Formation, Community).
           d. Regular weekly gathering as a community for Prayer/Liturgy/Fraternity (as determined by the community).
6.      Personal commitment to grow in areas of Faith, Service, the Ethical Life, and Servant Leadership.
7.      Open and respectful communication with community members.
8.      The living spaces of this Catholic Living Community will be an alcohol, tobacco & drug free, as described in the student handbook. 
9.      Willingness to hold oneself and others accountable for upholding community standards.

Treacy Apartment Housing

 

Treacy Apartment Housing:

Students accepted into the Catholic Living Community will be placed in Treacy Apartments. Students can request suitemates/roommates, but all suitemates/ roommates must be accepted into the Catholic Living Community. Four students will be placed in each apartment. Two students per apartment. *Private rooms  can be requested for an additional fee.

Housing Contract Information

Members of the Catholic Living Community will also have access to a lounge in Treacy that will be available for community gatherings and prayer. The community will also be encouraged to take advantage of spaces such as San Damiano Chapel and the Sr. Thea Bowman Center.

Application and Interview Process:

As part of the interview process, applicants will be required to attend an in-person or virtual interview with members of Mission and Ministry to discuss their application and reflections questions. Acceptance into the community will be based on the applicant's ability to demonstrate a commitment to the community's guidelines and standards, as well as their ability to contribute to the community in a positive way.

If accepted, members of the Catholic Living Community will be manually placed in Treacy Apartments. Members are expected to actively participate in community events and activities, as well as attend regular meetings with community leaders to discuss progress and plan future events. Members will also be expected to uphold the community's standards and guidelines at all times and take responsibility for their own personal and spiritual growth.
