Science in Mental Health Counseling Program

Counseling
Practicum seeks to enhance the skills and conceptualization processes
acquired through counseling a variety of client populations with intense
individual (one hour weekly) and group university supervision and guidance
(three and one-half hours weekly).
The
course also prepares trainees for the upcoming internship experience and
development as independent professional counselors

Counseling
internship is a field counseling experience supervised by a qualified mental
health counseling professional.
The
internship provides an opportunity for trainees to perform, under site
supervision, a variety of counseling activities that a professional mental
health counselor is expected to perform including action research.
Consistent
with the science-practitioner model, trainees will be required to engage in
research relevant to the site and their professional practice.
