DIGITAL STORYTELLING IN THE CLASSROOM
This course will introduce teachers to digital storytelling, the art of turning a personal narrative into a multimedia experience, combining music, video and/or still images with one’s own creative voice. Teachers will learn the seven elements that make it a powerful and expressive form of writing. They will view and critique student and teacher examples using a rubric provided in class; they will visit websites of schools that effectively integrate digital storytelling into the curriculum. They will
create a personal digital story, using their own pictures or pictures from the Web. Though it is not essential, teachers are encouraged to bring their own digital cameras.
