Students enrolled in the Masters in Education Programs (with
the exception of Educational Leadership
and Post Baccalaureate Teacher Licensure) are not eligible for traditional financial aid funding (i.e. Federal
Direct or Perkins Loans) due to the
unique structuring of the programs. In
addition, Viterbo cannot certify private/alternative education loans that
require confirmation of enrollment.
Students in MAED programs may apply for private/alternative education
loans that DO NOT require Viterbo to
certify the application. You would
be eligible for loans that place the burden for verification of enrollment on
you, the student borrower. Please
contact the lender(s) of your choice to find out what “non-certified” private education loan opportunities they may have
available. Federal regulations prohibit Viterbo employees from endorsing or
suggesting specific lenders or loan programs to potential or enrolled students.
What to consider when
selecting a lender/educational loan program*:
> Borrower
benefits
> Customer service
> Limits on loan
sale
> Prior business
relationships with family or friends
> Consumer
complaints to the Attorney General or Better Business Bureau
> Lender default
rates
> Prior loan
program experience
*NOTE: The loans chosen MUST be the Private/General
Loan option for graduate students, not the Federal Graduate PLUS Loan option or
the Private Graduate PLUS option.
