The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is responsible for the review of all research involving human subjects conducted by Viterbo University faculty, staff, and students to ensure that the rights and welfare of research subjects is protected.
All colleges and universities are required to establish an IRB in order to ensure that researchers comply with the federal regulations and ethnical guidelines set forth by the Department of Health and Human Service's Office for Human Research Protections. Viterbo University has filed a Federalwide Assurance, in which we promise to comply with these regulations and guidelines.
Viterbo's IRB strives not only to ensure that researchers are in compliance with federal regulations, but also more generally to foster appreciation for the ethical principles of beneficence, justice, and respect for persons. When researchers uphold these ethical principles, they honor our University's mission and core values.
Resources for submitting research for IRB review may be found on the right-hand sidebar. Please contact Raymond Preiss, IRB Interim Chair, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 796-3164 if you have any questions or concerns.
