Steps for Electronic Filing
Step 1 -- Request a student PIN number at www.pin.ed.gov. (Note: if you filed an 2012-13 FAFSA you may have already been sent a PIN number by the U.S. Department of Education. If so, you do NOT need to request a new PIN number). This will serve as your electronic signature for “FAFSA on the WEB.” If you are required to provide parental data on the FAFSA your parent should also request a PIN number at the above-referenced web site. Allow 7-10 days to receive your PIN number(s) by mail or 2-3 days if you provide an email address.
Step 2 -- Enter your (and your parent) FAFSA information at www.fafsa.gov
Step 3 -- Sign your FAFSA. You can sign electronically with your PIN, print a paper signature page to sign and mail in, OR wait for a signature page to be mailed to you. (If you are a dependent student, a parent must also sign).
Step 4 -- Submit your electronic FAFSA to the federal processing center via www.fafsa.ed.gov no later than March 15, 2013 to be considered “on time”.
Step 5 -- Receive and respond to Viterbo University “Financial Aid Award Letter.”
