Family Studies Minor

Mission and Goals


The Family Studies minor is an interdisciplinary program which focuses on human development within the family context, the nature of family interactions and family issues, and family interactions within broader social institutions. The minor is beneficial to all students and supports work in a variety of fields including health care, social services, counseling, youth services, teaching, ministry, family law, and business.


  • Students will demonstrate an understanding of the complexity of individual and family development across the life span in diverse contexts and changing environments.
  • Students will analyze processes, policies, and contextual factors that affect the delivery of human services to individuals and families.
