Foundations of Faith Community Nursing Course 

Purpose:

Nurses will be able to provide specialized nursing care of the spirit while promoting health and preventing illness within the faith community as well as the broader community.

Program Objectives:

Upon completion, the participants will be able to: 

  • embrace the integration of faith and health as central to the parish nurse role, demonstrate knowledge, attitude, and skills to practice as a faith community nurse.
  • value an inter-collegial peer system of support.
  • identify a network for continuing development and support.
  • commit continued spiritual formation to more effectively understand and carry out the faith community nurse role.

The Faith Community Nurse Ministry Preparation program may be taken as a continuing education course (38 contact hours).

Program fees include:

  • packet materials
  • IPNRC pin
  • 38 nursing contact hours

Faculty

Nancy Danou, MSN, RN teaches part-time for Viterbo University in the nursing program where she has taught since 1994. She has completed the Faculty Preparation Course sponsored by the Westberg Institute for Faith Community Nursing for the Basic Parish Nurse Preparation and Basic Parish Nurse Coordinator Programs.
