Basic Response to any Emergency

 

  1. If necessary, call 911.
  2. Call Campus Safety at 3911 if using a Viterbo phone; 608-796-3911 or 608-780-1582 if using a non-Viterbo phone.
  3. Health Services may also be called weekdays at 608-796-3806.
  4. Clear the area and stay with the individual until ­campus safety, health services, and/or emergency responders arrive.
  5. Do not attempt to move a severely injured person unless in danger of further injury.
  6. Send someone outside to direct emergency ­responders to location.
  7. If alcohol overdose is suspected, keep the person awake.
  8. Trained individuals begin CPR for an unresponsive ­victim who is not breathing normally.
  9. Trained individuals commence first aid while ­awaiting an ambulance particularly to stop heavy bleeding.
  10. Seal off unsafe areas.
  11. Send a responsible person along to serve as a ­liaison ­between the emergency responders/hospital and ­Viterbo.
