Resident Sustainabliity Committee
The Resident Assistant Sustainability Committee works to encourage on-campus residents to recycle and to educate residents on choices they can make which are better for the environment. Activities have included a newsletter, a make a pledge/get a plant event, and a resident assistant program competition.
Recycling
Waste and recycling canisters are placed in every on-campus student room and appartment. Students are asked to empty the canisters into larger receptacles which are located either inside or near their buildings. Items recycled are paper of all types (copy paper, newspaper, boxboard, cardboard), tin, aluminum, glass and plastic bottles HDPE 1 and 2.
End of Year Collection
While some campus organizations sponsor food or clothing drives during the year, the Office of Residence Life works with other groups to collect reusable materials as students are moving out at the end of the academic year. Items collected include clothing, food, and household goods. These items are given to community agencies which will distribute them to their clients.
