Electricity

In 2010, Viterbo’s Dahl School of Business 4+1 MBA students collected baseline data for the years of 2008 and 2009.  In 2008, Viterbo University consumed a total of 6.92 million kWh.  In 2009, total electricity consumption decreased to 6.51 million kWh.  The total usage for 2009 equates to the amount of power it takes to power 590 homes (using the average consumption of 11,000 kWh per home).

The greatest percentage of energy use in 2009 stems from electricity use in academic buildings (65%).  On-campus housing accounted for two tenths (20%) of electricity use, while athletic venues accounted for over a tenth (13%).  The remaining usage occurred in off-campus housing and non-academic buildings.
