Program Requirements
The following number of credits will be needed:
1. 48 credits - Master of Arts in Education with Director of Special Education and Pupil Services licensure
2. 33 credits - Director of Special Education and Pupil Services licensure only. You must have completed at least (3) three years of full-time teaching before the summer you wish to begin the program. School psychologist, school social workers, and school guidance counselors must have a minimum of (540) hours of classroom/large group experience/coursework will be considered. This does not apply to applicants for the School Business Administrators program.
3. Up to six graduate credits may be considered for waiver if taken within the last seven years.
4. Upon completion of the program the student is required to fill out a Special Recognition Award
application. Please fill out the form and send it to the program
Coordinator. This form is needed for transcripts to reflect a new
license.
5. Courses
Cohort based with four different sites: LaCrosse, Middleton, Green Bay, and Eau Claire. Need a minimum of eight students to offer a cohort. The cohort is based after learning community concepts with students staying in the same cohort until completion of the program.

- Course assignments, activities, and assessments are tied to the PI 34 Wisconsin Administrator Standards (WAS) required for an endorsement as a school principal or director of special education/pupil services
- Course includes a link to the “real world” of administration including the practicum EDUL 769 which includes on site experiences with a mentor
- Instructors/advisors include a combination of professors holding terminal degree in educational leadership and special education/pupil services along with experience in the PK-12 educational setting

6. A completed Assessment Capstone Portfolio must be submitted and scored before endorsement is given. Portfolio must be scored "basic" or "proficient" in each category/section.
NOTE: Failure to satisfactorily complete the Licensure Capstone Portfolio will delay endorsement of the licensure application. Resubmission of deficient sections may be required.
