Center For Sustainability
About the Center
Located in La Crosse, WI, within Viterbo University's Dahl School of Business, the Center for Sustainable Management is a community educational and consulting resource for businesses and non-profit organizations interested in sustainable practices. The center is a natural extension of Viterbo's foundational focus on ethical and servant leadership and is committed to the embodiment of Viterbo's Franciscan values of service, integrity, and stewardship. The center is a gathering place for important conversations about identifying critical leverage points for abundance and stability, both for now and for future generations.
La Crosse is rich in natural beauty and has received numerous honors for environmental stewardship. In 2007, the League of American Bicyclists named the city of La Crosse a bronze level Bicycle Friendly Community. In 2006, the Gathering Waters Conservancy named the city of La Crosse as the Policy Maker of the Year for the Bluffland Protection program. In 2007, both the city and county of La Crosse worked collaboratively to adopt resolutions endorsing The Natural Step and its principles of sustainable development and also recently approved a Strategic Plan for Sustainability. The city of La Crosse was recognized in the April 2008 edition of Country Home magazine as the 12th best green city in the United States.
The mission of Viterbo's Center for Sustainable Management is to provide education and support for sustainability and to gather and engage diverse community stakeholders (consumers, businesses, educators, and non-profit/government organizations) in conversations and work that builds our capacity to create sustainable well-being for people and for the environment.
The Dahl School of Business offers graduate and undergraduate programs that develop leaders in the area of sustainable management.
