Currently Teaching: Production & Operations Management, Financial Management, Cost Accounting, Entrepreneurial Finance, Seminar in Entrepreneurial Operations
Experience Outside Academia: Alissa has worked for 16 years in the insurance and financial services arena. Her roles included insurance underwriting (2 years), pension plan administration (4 years), CD/IRA product support management and investment services operations management at First Federal (8 years), and insurance and financial services agency owner (2 years). In addition, she has been helping her husband set up and run his own business (a small construction and remodeling company) for the past 5 years.
Community Involvement: Alissa serves as a Parent Teacher Organization member and volunteer for Viking Elementary in Holmen. She has been an Upward Bound volunteer (hosting high school students for job shadowing, volunteering at Career Day events, and wherever they need her). She's also acted as an alumni representative at the NCEOA national conference in Washington, D.C. in the past, and expects to do this again in the future.
Professional Associations: Alissa holds several insurance and securities licenses: WI Life, Health, Property, and Casualty insurance licenses, Series 7 securities license (stock broker's license), Series 24 General Securities Principal License, and Series 65 - Financial Advisor's License.
Research Activities: Currently pursuing her Ph.D., Alissa is beginning work on the effect of monetary rewards like commissions on ethics in decision-making.
Hobbies and Other Interests: Alissa expresses her artistic side primarily through quilting - combinations of colors and fabrics in neat geometrical patterns! She's a 4th generation quilter and is teaching her daughter as well - the 5th generation. Alissa is very proud of her two children, and family is really important to her. She truly believes that life should be fun, and she brings a sense of humor into everything she does, including teaching.
