General Education Core Abilities
Faculty Assembly approved changes to descriptions of core abilities, fall, 2006.
1. Thinking:
Students engage in the process of inquiry and problem solving.
2. Ethical Decision Making:
Students respond to ethical issues, using informed value systems.
3. Communication:
Students speak and write to suit varied purposes, audiences, disciplines, and contexts.
4. Aesthetic Sensitivity:
Students engage in and critically reflect upon artistic experiences.
5. Cultural Sensitivity:
Students understand their own and other cultural traditions and demonstrate a respect for the diversity of the human experience.
6. Community Involvement:
Students demonstrate social responsibility by serving their communities.
