President’s Column

We are almost mid-way through the fall semester, and it is evident from the shorter days and cooler weather that fall is here. I offer my congratulations to the women’s volleyball team for their #1 ranking in the country.

At the Monday, Oct. 9 Viterbo Board of Trustees meeting, the board members heard from several faculty members about how they live the Viterbo mission. In addition, the night before, Sr. Laura Nettles, Emilio Alvarez, and members of the St. Francis Week planning committee talked about our recent celebrations of St. Francis and our work on new programming related to mission. In addition, the board approved:

  • Tenure for seven faculty members
  • Raised the minimum threshold for new endowed scholarships (existing endowed scholarships below the threshold will continue)
  • Approved the audit report from 2016–17
  • Approved the modified operating budget for the 2017–18 academic year to reflect actual enrollment

University Forum

On Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 3:30 p.m. in the Nola Starling Recital Hall, I will host a university forum at which I will outline additional discussions that occurred at the board level. I will also discuss strategic plan progress, budget modifications for this academic year, and planning for the next budget year. I hope you will attend the forum if your schedule allows.

Thank you for all of your contributions to the mission of Viterbo.
