National Science Foundation Project SUCCESS scholarships of up to $10,000 per year are available for students majoring in biology or environmental biology who enroll at Viterbo for fall 2017.
The scholarships are part of the National Science Foundation’s Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (S-STEM) program. Students will also receive academic support, career development, internship and research experiences, and additional opportunities in the sciences.
“Students accepted into Project SUCCESS have unique opportunities to explore the diversity that exists in the natural sciences while developing the background and skills needed for a career in a STEM field,” said Michael Alfieri, biology. “I am thrilled to be able to offer this four-year experience to qualified students.”
Eligibility criteria for the scholarship includes demonstrated academic potential or ability with a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale, a minimum ACT score of 22, demonstrated financial need, and full-time enrollment in a baccalaureate degree program in the biological sciences (other than a pre-health focus). Preference will be given to applicants who are members of a rural community, have the greatest financial need, and who demonstrate the greatest academic potential or ability.
