National Service Opportunities

HECUA 

HECUA is an organization of 17 liberal arts colleges, universities and associations dedicated to education for social justice 

Idealist.Org 

  • A non-profit, searchable databank of volunteer and paid positions.
  • Animal welfare, crime and safety, disaster relief, environmental issues, homelessness, human rights, peace and conflict resolution, and much more

 Public Allies 

  • Places young adults in paid one-year community leadership positions in non-profits or government agencies
  • 10 months on intensive leadership training and professional apprenticeship
  • Receive living allowance, health and child care benefits, and an educational award

AmeriCorps 

  • Similar to Peace Corps, but positions available in the US
  • One year of service with a living stipend and an educational award of $4,725 for further education or student loans
  • Members serve in areas such as education, environmental, home

Catholic Network of Volunteer Service 

  • Opportunities for service for all denominations
  • Many provide housing, AmeriCorps education awards

  • A federal service program requiring a two year commitment to service in other countries
  • Highly competitive program with little or no cost to the participant
  • Most placements require a bachelors degree in specific areas- intensive training required

Visions in Action
6-12 month volunteer opportunities in Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa and Liberia.

Amigos de las Americas 

  • 6- 8 week programs throughout South America

Global Service Corps (GSC)
