Hands On Clinical Experience
Beginning in the sophomore year, Viterbo University nursing students acquire practical nursing experience in addressing the health needs of individuals, families, and communities. With two major medical centers (Gundersen Lutheran and Mayo Clinic Health System - Franciscan Healthcare), numerous clinics and a variety of community-based settings in the area, as well as, affiliations with Mayo-Rochester, Tomah VA Medical Center, Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and several local long term care facilities. All of our nursing students receive theory and practice in all nursing areas including:
- Maternity Nursing • Mental Health Nursing
- Adult Health Nursing • Nursing of Children
- Nursing of Older Adults • Public Health Nursing
The Synthesis Practicum is the culminating capstone experience and is tailored to meet the individual goals of the graduating senior. Students have the opportunity for an intensive clinical experience in the specialty of their choice during their last semester. Special emphasis is placed on development of leadership and management skills while increasing clinical expertise prior to entering the nursing profession.
