Outstanding Academic Advisor Award Nomination Form

The Outstanding Academic Advisor Award is presented at the Rose Awards Ceremony to an individual who has demonstrated qualities associated with outstanding academic advising of students as reflected in the mission statement, statement of core values, and advisor responsibilities.

Any Viterbo employee who serves in an official capacity as an academic advisor is eligible for this award. Nominations from students are preferred.

Describe how your advisor has demonstrated any or all of the following criteria. Specific examples will support your nomination better than general comments.

Describe below how your advisor has demonstrated any or all of the following criteria. Particularly strong nominations include specific examples of at least several of these categories.

• Possesses strong interpersonal skills
• Is reasonably available to advisees
• Makes appropriate referrals to on-campus resources
• Establishes a personal, caring relationship with advisees
• Monitors student progress toward academic and career goals
• Provides scheduling assistance
• Is a role model for a Franciscan community
• Is knowledgeable of academic requirements and university policies
• Is able to engage in developmental advising (an integration of academic goals with personal, social, and career goals) versus simply course scheduling
