PhotoADRIAN BOYD
V-HAWKS MEN'S BASKETBALL 1987-91

Adrian Boyd could do it all on the basketball court. His athletic ability helped him become an effective collegiate scorer, rebounder and shot blocker, as well as a leader. After leading his high school (Whitefish Bay) in scoring and rebounding his senior year, Boyd came to Viterbo to showcase his talents.

Boyd showed right away why Viterbo wanted him in a V-Hawks uniform. In his sophomore year, he began to re-write the school record book. Boyd led the team in scoring, rebounding, steals and blocked shots that year and garnered his second of four NCBT All-American awards. He also received his first of three Midwest Classic All-Conference and Wisconsin Independent College Association All-District awards.

Boyd capped off a superb career at Viterbo his senior year by leading the V-Hawks in rebounding, blocked shots and steals. He also earned NAIA All-American Honorable Mention and NAIA All-District that year. Boyd's 535 points gave him 1,705 career points, placing him second on the all-time list of leading scorers. Boyd also finished with a school-record 736 rebounds at Viterbo.

Boyd's hard work and talent on the court paid off when he was selected by the CBA's La Crosse Catbirds in 1991.

V-HAWKS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL 1988-1992

lthough Cheryl (Cota) Hanson will best be remembered as one of the greatest offensive players in school history, she also will be thought of as one of the hardest working athletes to attend Viterbo College.

After leading her high school (Fall Creek) to the state championship three times and runner-up once, Cota came to Viterbo and produced right away. As a freshman, she scored 211 points and dished out 7.1 assists a game.

As a sophomore, Cota helped lead the V-Hawks to the school's first-ever appearance in the semifinals of the District 14 tournament. The 5-foot-5 guard averaged 12.7 points and 6.2 assists a game and was named 2nd Team All-Conference.

Cota's offensive prowess peaked during the 1990-91 season when she scored 603 points. She led the V-Hawks with 20.8 points a game average and dished out 7.6 assists a game while garnering 1st Team All-Conference, NAIA All-District and NCBT All-American awards.

Cota finished her career at Viterbo as the all-time leading scorer with 1,719 points. She helped lead Viterbo to the District 14 Finals while averaging 18 points a game. She was named 1st Team All-Conference, NAIA All-District Player of the Year and NCBT All-American.

PhotoMARK SKOGEN
V-HAWKS MEN'S BASKETBALL / BASEBALL 1988-92

Mark Skogen is probably best remembered as the most prolific scorer in Viterbo basketball history.

Regarded as one of the premier basketball recruits in the state after guiding his high school team (Onalaska) to a state championship season, Skogen gave proof of his early promise with 30 points in his first game in a V-Hawks uniform. From there, Skogen went on to finish his career at Viterbo as the all-time leading scorer with 2,027 points.

Skogen also set five new school records including most three-pointers made (320) and most free throws (287). The sharp-shooting guard led his team to three conference championships in his four years at Viterbo.

Skogen's hard work and talent, both on the court and off, earned him many honors including NCBT All-American twice, NAIA All-American Honorable Mention and All-Conference three times. He was named MCC Player-of-the-Year his senior year. Skogen is only one of two players at Viterbo whose jerseys have been retired.

Skogen also excelled in baseball. As an outfielder, third baseman and catcher on the baseball team, Skogen had a career batting average of .292 in three seasons at Viterbo.
