VITERBO SCORES EARLY, HOLDS ON FOR OVERTIME TIE

La Crosse, WI – The Viterbo University women’s soccer team got on the board early but had to hold on down the stretch as they played to a 1-1 double overtime tie with Olivet Nazarene University.

Sophomore Anna Edell (Rochester, Minn.) took advantage of the V-Hawks first scoring opportunity by taking a loose ball and putting it in the back of the net in the 16th minute. It was one of only two scoring opportunities the V-Hawks would have in the first half. On the other hand, the Tigers of Olivet Nazarene University had plenty of opportunities as they out shot the V-Hawks 14-2 in the opening period. Freshman goalkeeper, Stephanie Stacey (New Berlin, Wis.), turned away all five shots on goal in the half. more
