Since 1979, when Rey Duvall fielded the first men's soccer team at Viterbo for a five-game schedule, the V-Hawks have strived for both academic and athletic excellence. While it has taken awhile for the program to take flight, men's soccer at Viterbo now finds itself not only as a consistent conference leader, but also a threat to move on past the regional tournament each year. At Viterbo, the student-athlete is a student first and an athlete second. The university has had a rich tradition in both academics and in soccer -- traditions that will no doubt continue.
Academic Excellence:
Viterbo has an outstanding academic reputation with nearly 2,000 students and more than 40 major fields of study to choose from. Recently named to the College & Character Honor Roll a national initiative of the John Templeton Foundation, for its "comprehensive commitment and programs that inspire students to lead ethical and civic-minded lives." Students enjoy the individual attention received from the faculty and staff that can only be found at a small university. And when you have finished your degree requirements at Viterbo, the school can help you find employment, with a placement rate of well over 90 percent.
V-Hawk Soccer Tradition
The Viterbo University men's soccer program has had a long and storied history that includes many conference championships, as well as five NAIA District 14 titles. As a member of the Midwest Classic Conference (MCC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Viterbo plays a nationally strong NAIA schedule, also playing several NCAA I, II and III teams ranked within the "top twenty." The V-Hawks have an extensive fall and spring schedule with practices, scrimmages, and games. During the winter, the V-Hawks head inside and take part in both weight and conditioning programs and indoor play in the R.W. Beggs Gymnasium. Coaches and players are committed to teaching, learning, and working hard to achieve the program's goal -- a trip to the NAIA national tournament, via the Midwest Regional Tournament.
