Dating back to 1988, when the first pitch was thrown at Viterbo University and the intercollegiate baseball program took flight, the V-Hawks have strived for both academic and athletic excellence. At Viterbo, the student-athlete is a student first and an athlete second. The university has had a rich tradition in both academics and in baseball--traditions that will no doubt continue.
Academic Excellence:
Viterbo has an outstanding academic reputation with nearly 2,000 students and more than 40 major fields of study to choose from. Recently named to the College & Character Honor Roll a national initiative of the John Templeton Foundation, for its "comprehensive commitment and programs that inspire students to lead ethical and civic-minded lives." Students enjoy the individual attention received from the faculty and staff that can only be found at a small university. And when you have finished your degree requirements at Viterbo, the school can help you find employment, with a placement rate of well over 90 percent.
Baseball Excellence:
Viterbo's baseball program has a storied history that includes two conference championships. As a member of the Midwest Classic Conference (MCC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Viterbo plays a competitive schedule against some of the best schools in the Midwest Region. The V-Hawks have an extensive fall schedule with practices, scrimmages and games. During the winter, the V-Hawks practice inside and take part in both weight and conditioning programs. Viterbo also has an intense spring schedule thatallows for 65 games. The V-Hawks are known to play a very competitive schedule and most years have games with NCAA Division 1, 2, and 3 teams. Viterbo has posted victories over the University of Minnesota and Indiana State University both NCAA Division One Programs. Coaches and players are committed to teaching, learning and working hard to achieve the program's goal--a trip to the NAIA World Series.
