Artist's Statement: My paintings are made as I think about issues of identity and the things that determine how each of us is regarded outside of our self, like our race, class, education, gender, politics and beauty. The tattoo paintings come from my close observation of the skin and its marks, public places where fragments of identity and experiences are visually communicated.
