2016 Afterschool Art
What: Art classes for children ages 5 – 14
The classes are taught by Viterbo Art and Art Education students guided by Art faculty.
To cover the cost of expendable materials, there will be a charge of $60 per student.
Enrollment is limited and students will be registered on a first come first serve basis.
Scholarships are available.

When: Eight sessions on Tuesdays, 4:30 – 6:00 p.m., October 11th – December 6th, 2016 (there will be no Afterschool Art during the week of Thanksgiving)
Where: Viterbo Fine Arts Center / 929 Jackson Street / Room 317 / La Crosse, WI
The following classes will be offered:
Students will choose from a variety of materials to create drawings,
sculptures, dioramas, prints and paintings depicting real and imaginary
animals, plants and insects. Suggested for ages 5 – 7
Animals, people, pets, nature, places, events and designs are common subject matter for young artists. Students in this class draw, paint, sculpt, collage and print using their interests and ideas for inspiration. Suggested for ages 6 – 8
Students will learn to use a variety of traditional art materials and digital media to create portraits of historical figures, athletes, popular personalities, friends, family and pets. Suggested for ages 7 – 10
Students will use a variety of clay and sculptural techniques to produce creative and unique artworks. Learning about various cultural traditions students will make everything from functional pots to decorative sculptures. Suggested for ages 9 – 14
Drawing, Painting & Printmaking
Students in this class will be guided in foundational drawing, painting and printmaking techniques using still life arrangements and portraiture as subject matter. Students will use acrylic paints, watercolors, inks and more to create frameable works of art. Each student will frame at least one favorite work of art. Suggested for ages 9 – 14
Students will work in groups or individually with traditional and digital photography to create reality based and fictive play in photography This elective includes learning basic photography techniques and learning about special effects in the history of photography. Suggested for ages 11 – 14
