Writing Assistance
Writing Specialists are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Academic Resource Center currently does not offer evening or weekend assistance. Papers can be reviewed in person or online, but they are reviewed by appointment only. Students can make an appointment by using Genbook, by stopping into the Academic Resource Center, or by calling (608) 796-3190. Please note: appointments should be made several days in advance, and at certain times of the year, appointments may be limited or unavailable.
NEW: Graduate Writing Assistance. The ARC is now offering writing assistance to graduate students at Viterbo University. This service is primarily online, but in-person assistance is also available.
Students can schedule 30 or 60 minute appointments, but appointments are limited to an hour. For online papers, specialists will typically get through 5 to 7 pages in an hour. Writing Specialists will offer help at any stage of the writing process. Specialists do not proofread papers but instead model correct writing practices. It is up to students to review all of the specialists’ comments and make changes throughout their papers. Specialists can also answer questions about formatting in APA, MLA, and Chicago Style.
Specific questions may be emailed to a specialist. Our writing specialists are Lindsay Cummings, email lrcummings@viterbo.edu; Andy Moore, email ajmoore@viterbo.edu and Judy Ulland, email jkulland@viterbo.edu. Questions may also be emailed to writing@viterbo.edu. A specialist will usually acknowledge your request within 24 hours.
