Alumni and Friends - Speed Mock Interviewing
Tuesday, February 26, 2013
5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Fine Arts Center Lobby
Event Overview
The Speed Mock Interviewing event will provide Viterbo alumni and friends an opportunity to mentor current Viterbo students as they practice interviewing and networking skills.
A brief orientation for interviewers and students will be held at 5:45 p.m. During the event, students will make several 6-minute stops at tables staffed by alumni and friends. During the 6 minutes, the alumni will facilitate introductions, ask a typical interview question, listen to the student’s response, and provide feedback to the student. Students will then move on to another station to repeat a similar process.
Preceding and following the interviewing practice, time will be allotted for networking.
Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be provided before and after the event.
Interview Questions
Alumni interviewers will interview students from a variety of majors. When interviewing a student with an interest in your specific career field, the interviewers may choose to ask a field-specific question of their choice. In other cases, the interviewer will be asking more general interview questions. To avoid having students repeatedly asked similar questions throughout the event, alumni are asked to submit their general interview questions for approval prior to the event. If you prefer, a general interview question can be provided to you by the Career Services staff. Interviewers should abide by generally accepted guidelines when choosing interview questions and should not ask things that may be considered illegal or inappropriate (see http://www.jobinterviewquestions.org/questions/illegal-questions.asp for more information)
