Catalog Changes resulting from the addition of a new major or minor
Students normally remain in the same catalog as when they entered Viterbo and follow the program of study, policies and procedures as outlined in that catalog. Students do not automatically move to a new catalog when one is published. When a student decides to declare a major of minor that is new and was not included in their original catalog, that student must move to the new catalog. A student can follow only one and the same catalog for both a major or double major and a minor.
Because 2010-2011 is a transition period for our General Education policies, students who change catalog from an earlier catalog will be moved into the transition year General Education requirements (G9 category is replaced by four Mission Seminars). If the student is just starting out, this may not be a problem. For students further along, though, this would require additional classes to be taken. In light of this hardship, students who are required to move to the new catalog because of a minor addition may choose to submit a Permission to Waive/Substitute Degree Requirements Form to request that they substitute the required Mission Seminars with their G9 requirements from their previous catalog.
