Fr. Conrad Targonski is a Franciscan friar of the Assumption Province of Franciscans (Wisconsin). Previous assignments included university chaplain (Mississippi Valley State University); Director of Vocations for the Franciscans; Pastor (Milwaukee) and most recently, retired from the United States Navy Chaplain Corps after 22 years of active duty with sailors, Marines and military families. He is also a combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom (Fallujah 2004-2005). After retirement from the Navy, Fr. Conrad embarked upon the ancient pilgrimage to the Camino de Santiago de Campostella after which his superiors asked him to share his experiences with the students at Viterbo University as director of Campus Ministry, a position he has held since 2011. Since coming to Viterbo, three other Franciscan Friars have joined the La Crosse community so that they, along with the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, continue to offer the dream of Sts. Francis of Assisi and Clare to students searching for wisdom in the Franciscan intellectual tradition.
