About Campus Activities

Classroom education is a priority in your college career, but the learning experience should not stop there. Eighty percent of learning takes place outside the classroom. Focused on expanding the student's collegiate experience with opportunities to participate in fun and learning situations, the Office of Campus Activities and Orientation provides programs in the following areas.

Leadership Opportunities

Campus Activities offers participation and membership into the National Society of Leadership Success (NSLS). This is a leadership training program that teaches students how to achieve success by participating in goal setting exercises, attending speaker broadcast presentations and learning from other great leaders, and working collaboratively with each other to make a better world.  Once inducted, students can choose to participate in Viterbo's membership chapter were they use their leadership skills to participate in service projects and continue building their leadership skills.

The following are leadership positions offered in Campus Activities:

VU After Dark

Every Friday and Saturday night at 9 p.m. VU After Dark offers a different social program held on campus, free of charge for students.  Programs may be hypnotists, live music, games, competitions, crafts, bingo, casino night, movies, and more.  All ages of students are invited to attend the programs.  Some programs are held at off-campus locations.

Student Organizations

Viterbo University's student organizations serve as an added educational resource to students, giving them experiences related to their classes and providing a variety of activities to supplement and balance their lives.  Involvement in a group that helps to explore interests can be a source of developing skills, learning more about the many facets of a particular area, experiencing the interplay of working with others, and assuming leadership roles.  Get involved in one of the 30 plus student organizations.  All organizations act independently and are student-run, but are managed by Campus Activities.  All organizations require university status to be able to apply for funding from the Student Government Association (SGA).

Student Activities Board (SAB) plans social programs for students such as Homecoming, semester bus trips, free movie nights, WithOut Worries Week (Wow Week), and Courtyard Carni.  The SAB advisor is the director of campus activities and orientation.

New Student Orientation

All new students go through new student orientation in some form before they start school at Viterbo.  Once you are a current student, you can be an Orientation Leader for the V-Hawk Orientation Days program and earn service learning hours.
