Technical College Pathways Program

Are you currently enrolled in a nursing program at one of the Wisconsin Technical Colleges? Would you like to take the general education and nursing support classes that are part of a Bachelor of Science Degree at Viterbo University? Now you can do that by applying to the Professional Pathways Program.

Professional Pathways allows opportunities for Wisconsin Technical College students to complete general education courses, which may allow a seamless pathway into the BSN Completion program at Viterbo University.

There are two pathway options for current associate degree students. You can choose from one of these two options:

  • Professional Nursing Bridge – for students in the second semester of their nursing core courses at a technical college
  • Professional Steps – for students waiting to start the nursing core courses at one of the technical colleges

To apply: (There are two steps in the application process.)

  1. Apply for admission online.  Select the Non-Traditional Undergraduate & Degree Completion Application option, then select the either the Nursing Pathways Professional Bridge or Nursing Pathways Professional Steps option.
  2. Apply for the Professional Pathways online  (click on link). Once the form is completed, print and have it signed by the technical school's nursing program Associate Dean.
    Submit the completed form to:

One of the Admission Counselors in our Center for Adult Learning can assist you in the application process.  Once you've been accepted, an Academic Advisor will help you select and register for classes.

Classes meet once a week or online. Students must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA to remain in the selected pathway. Upon graduation from your Associate Degree Nursing program you will need to apply to the BSN-Completion program by submitting a BSN-Completion application form.

Students can select up to two courses per semester from the following list:

  • English 307 – Argumentative Writing, 3 credits
  • Math 130 – Introduction to Statistics, 3 credits
  • Fine Arts, 3 credits
  • History – upper division, 3 credits
  • Philosophy – upper division, 3 credits
  • Religious Studies - upper division, 3 credits
  • English Literature – upper division, 3 credits

Note: For both pathways listed above, neither school can verify attendance (or attendance status) for financial aid, loan deferment, insurance, or other needs, based on combined institutional attendance, i.e. neither institution can verify full-time student status by combining registered credits from both schools.
