Alcohol and other drug abuse or dependence can profoundly impact individuals, families, institutions and society. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the need for professional substance and drug abuse counselors will rise by 31% between 2012 and 2022. A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree with a major in substance abuse counseling can prepare you for careers in the following areas:

Your studies will fulfill the classroom education requirements for entry into the field of alcohol and drug addiction counseling. The Substance Abuse Counseling program also has an additional require­ment of supervised practice with employers. This program uses evidence-based training practices incor­porating digital video technology to provide students with immediate feedback on skill development. The Wisconsin Department of Licensing and Regulations endorses this program for the total required educa­tion time of 360 hours.
