Mid-term Grade Notices
Viterbo University feels it is the
responsibility of the instructor to inform the student of his/her progress
shortly before the mid-semester point in the course. This process is intended to help create an awareness
of a student’s level of academic performance.
The Office of the Registrar collects a grade of MS, MD, or MF, for each
student in traditional program courses. The MS, MD, or MF grades signify
mid-term progress of satisfactory, a grade of D or a grade of F, respectively.
The mid-term grade should aid the student in assessing his or her progress in
the course. The grade is for use by the
student, faculty, and advisor. No notation of the mid-term grades is made on
any official document, including the transcript. Students can view the mid-term
grades via the online student information system, VitNet.
Any
student receiving more than 3 midterm D or F notices is required to complete
the Student Success Plan for each course in which they received a
midterm D or F notice. This form
requires signatures from the students’ academic advisor, the student, and the
instructor of the course in which the student received a midterm D or F
notice. The completed forms are then
returned to the Director of Student Academic Success to determine further
follow up and possible success strategies for the remainder of the semester.
