Lesson
Plan
Introduction:
In this activity the students
will be looking at all the different planets in our own solar system and
then they will be creating our own solar systems.
Task:
The students will fill out the
worksheet while reading through the planets web site and then be able to
apply what they know from our own solar system in creating their very own
solar system. Knowledge, comprehension, application, analyze, synthesize,
and evaluation will all be covered in this lesson.
Process:
The Students will read through
information about the planets in our solar system and fill out the worksheet
that goes along with the reading. Then they will work on the final project
which is to design their own solar system following the directions given
and then present them to the class. Then they will evaluate themselves
as well as their classmates.
Evaluation:
The students should follow the
directions for the final project, which the rubric is based off of. The
students will be evaluating themselves and each other. The evaluations
from the students will be averaged.
Conclusion:
The students will learn about
the different planets in our solar system and then apply that in creating
their own solar system. Some further questions could be: 1) What other
characteristics could be used in describing the planets besides the ones
that were discussed? 2) Are there any other solar systems out there that
exist now? 3) Is there anything else that we should have incorporated in
this lesson?
