Today's Assignment
Benjamin Franklin was a writer among
all of the other things we have discussed. One of his most famous
writings is Poor Richard's Almanac. In Franklin's almanac he make use of
many proverbs or aphorisms, some of which Franklin
himself heard and then modifidied, others of which he created.
Below are a list of the proverbs
he used in Poor Richard's Almanac:
1. Pick seven of the proverbs
from below and paraphrase them
2. Make sure the reader has
no doubt about what Franklin meant
3. Pick three of the seven
and create a modern proverb that has the same
meaning as the one Franklin wrote

At the working man’s house hunger looks
in, but dares not enter.

There are no ugly loves, nor handsome
