PROCESS

Getting Started
*Each student must have a Wisconsin map that the teacher will provide, a blank piece of paper, and a pen/pencil.
*You may work as individuals or in partners, but no more than two people per group.
*There is a link at the bottom of this page that will take you directly to the first clue.  Clue two is linked on the bottom of clue one's page, clue three is linked on the bottom of clue's two page and so on and so to clue ten.

Determining Where Governor Doyle is located
*Jim Doyle has made his way through nine different Wisconsin cities and is currently still at the tenth location.  In order to determine where Jim is hiding you must read each clue carefully.  Each clue will give you some information about one city in Wisconsin.  You must use your knowledge of Wisconsin cities and towns or your ability to look up information on the web or in our class resource books to find the answer.  As you find the answer to each clue, write it down.  Writing down each answer is important, so please do not skip over it.  If you do, you will be forced to go back when you reach clue ten!  The final clue (clue ten)  is slightly different than the preceeding nine clues.  Clue ten is Governor Doyle's final location.  In order to determine that location, you will be asked to follow some simple directions that will unscramble the town and lead you to your answer.
*Spelling of each city is VERY important!  Please take the time to carefully check your spelling.

Preparing Your Press Conference
*After you have found where Governor Doyle is currently at in Wisconsin, your next step is to inform the public about the various cities Governor Doyle has been.  Research the cities and find out as much information as possible about each one.
*Be sure to include facts about the city such as: population and where it is located in WI (e.g. northwest, southeast, 12 miles south of Madison, etc.)
*Try to find the city on your WI map.  PLEASE NOTE: Some cities may not be on your map.  If the city isn't on the map, try and find a rough estimation of where the city is located.  Place a dot or a mark on your map.
*Also try to determine how far from Madison each city is in terms of miles.
*Describe what Governor Doyle was doing at each location (use your creativity skills!)
*You can also include any other information about the city you think is important or the public might be interested in knowing.
*PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE

Present Your Press Conference
*Schedule a time to have your press conference recorded OR if you wish present your press conference to the class.
*Eye contact is extremely important.  You can use notes, but please use your notes as little as possible!
*If doing in partners, each partner must speak an equal amount of time.
*Talk slowly and clearly!
