Nursing Math Test

Nursing Math Test

Every fall and spring, Viterbo’s math specialist offers the Nursing Math Test that needs to be passed prior to applying to the nursing program. Materials are available to help students prepare for the test. Remediation is available when retakes are needed.

Students are encouraged to complete the testing during the first semester of their freshman year; however, it can be completed any semester as long as it is passed prior to submitting their application. For students who are admitted to Viterbo directly into the Nursing sequence, the Test must be passed the semester they enter Viterbo.

The Test covers content including:

  • Decimals
  • Fractions
  • Percents
  • Ratios and Proportions
  • Conversions among the Metric and Household systems

All students who have declared Nursing as their major will have access to the Nursing Math Information Moodle site until they have passed the Nursing Math Test. On that site, students will have access to the link needed to sign up for the Test, along with access to documents and video links to help study for the Test.

Testing times are as follows:

- Week 3 of Fall Semester
- Week 2 of Spring Semester

  • Monday: 3 - 4:30 pm
  • Tuesday: 3 - 4:30 pm
  • Friday: 1:30 - 3 pm

If a student does not pass, they will attend a review session the following week and then retake the test until they pass. Remediation is available prior to each retake.
