Adjunct Profile: Krista Clements Orlan
Name: Krista Clements Orlan
Department: Core Curriculum
What courses do you teach?
Serving the Common Good; Unified Mission Seminar
How long have you been teaching at Viterbo University?
What is something you do in the classroom that has proven effective?
I use a Socratic seminar method in the classroom. Students really take charge of their learning and I don't need to be the "talking head" at the front of the classroom.
What is something you do outside of the classroom (e.g. scholarly work, research, publication)?
I am involved in developing my community through service in a variety of ways: Vice President of the Aquinas Music Association, volunteer at the Kane St. Community Garden, cantor at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish and St. Rose Convent. I also work part time in the Mayo Clinic Health System - Franciscan Healthcare Spiritual Care department in the Integrative & Healing Arts program. I work mostly with Reverie Harp relaxation therapy.
What is something you do for fun (e.g. hobbies, interests beyond teaching)?
I love the outdoors, reading, spending time with my family, and travel. I love food: growing food, cooking food, and sharing food with others.
