Handbook - Course Load

Full-time credit load is a minimum of 12 for undergraduate students during a traditional fall or spring term. Sixteen credits is an average course load for students in traditional fall or spring semesters and more than eighteen credits is regarded as an overload.

The number of credits a student takes each semester should be decided after considering the student's ability, the number or individual courses, the difficulty and time involvement of the courses, the number of hours per week the student works, and the number of other involvements the student has.

Only the unusual student should be allowed an overload.  The student should be aware that there is an additional tuition charge for each credit over eighteen.

For more information about credit loads, see Registration under the Academic Information and Policies in the Undergraduate Catalog.
