Curriculum

Post-BSN to DNP

The curriculum for Post-BSN to DNP  is a variable credit program offering core courses and a choice of two tracks that prepare graduates for a selected role and population foci in primary care: Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner (Lifespan). The degree can be accomplished in four years of study with six credits considered full time; however more credits are needed per semester to complete within this time period. Total credits & clinical hours needed for graduation vary according to choice of tracks. Classes are normally scheduled online or one day a week face to face. Clinical practicums require additional time and can be done in the student's own location if possible. Partially online courses reduce the number of campus visits necessary each semester. Part-time options may be possible.

Post-MSN to DNP

There are two options within the Post-MSN to DNP program:

1. For Current NPs:

The curriculum for Post-MSN to DNP is a 30 credit program normally completed in two years with an allowance for taking 3 years to complete the program if needed (1-2 courses/semester).

2. Post-MSN Program Including INITIAL NP Preparation:

This extended program leads to the post-MSN to DNP and includes the additional coursework necessary to be eligible to certify as an Adult-Gero or Family NP.
