Student Editorial Artist Position

VU After Dark hires one student editorial artist to assist with entertainment, social, and recreational programs that take place frequently on Friday and Saturday nights at 9 p.m. during the academic year. The editorial artist will also help with the advertisement and promotion of VU After Dark programs. Application

Employment Timeline

The student editorial artist generally serves within a two semester contract. However, the employee's preference can be noted on the application but the program will consider employee's terms based on the needs of the program.

  • Currently hiring for Spring 2014–Fall 2014
  • Applications due by January 17

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination and promotion of weekend late night programs.
  • Provides on-site supervision of events to oversee facilities use, arrangements, admission receipts, compliance with policies, and to assist in problem resolution. 
  •  Assists with the coordination of volunteers for weekend late night programs. 
  • Contacts and follow up with outside vendors and performers when needed 
  •  Assists with setup and tear down of events. 
  •  Communicates with the Director in the planning of the event, during, and after the event.
  • Completes all necessary pre-event and post-event paperwork including program evaluation.
  •  Meets regularly with VU After Dark staff to discuss goals and event details. 
  • Four office hours per week (weekly staf meeting, office hours, and occasional weekend event hours)
  • Lead at least one program each semester. 
  • Additional duties as assigned.


    Written and verbal evaluation will be given throughout the semesters. At the completion of each semester, a formal evaluation with both supervisors will occur and employee will be expected to complete a written evaluation of each semester.


    Must be a full-time Viterbo University student with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.  Must be willing to work on weekdays and weekends during daytime, evening, and late night hours.

    Hours of Employment

    •  Four hours per week, which may be evening, night, and/or weekend hours when class is in session.
    • May require occasional work during breaks (i.e. fall break, Thanksgiving break, semester break, spring break, Easter break, etc.) Schedule will be arranged with supervisor.

    Additional Dates of Obligation

    • All day training and planning workday during winter break and summer break
    • Conference attendance at the regional NACA conference in early April


    $512.00 of the spring semester dispersed among the eight pay periods.
