Alissa Oelfke worked for 16 years in the insurance and financial services industry before becoming a teacher. She earned an MBA at Viterbo University, and is currently studying for a Ph.D. in organizational management, specializing in management education. She currently teaches Financial Management, Managerial Accounting, Operations Management, and Management Science. Oelfke is a faculty advisor for Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), an organization that promotes volunteerism in the community and conducts projects related to financial literacy, entrepreneurialism, and sustainability. She is a parent volunteer at her childrens’ schools, and volunteers as a job shadowing host and Career Day speaker for Upward Bound in La Crosse. Oelfke is currently researching topics related to corporate social and environmental responsibility, and how these strategies can be incorporated into business education.

Speaking Topic: Socially Responsible Financial Management

This is a summary of various practices used by financial management professionals in firms that have committed themselves to socially and environmentally responsible business practices. These firms define their success in terms of their triple bottom line by looking at their social, environmental, and economic results.
