ARC LogoThe Academic Resource Center (ARC) serves all members of the Viterbo community and provides an environment of interactive and mutual support. This structure is based on a model of connected knowing (Belenky, 1986) and is involved, integrative and empathetic.

  • To assist students in developing skills for successful performance in the academic environment
  • To offer a framework that fosters confidence in students' abilities to construct knowledge and become independent learners
  • To partner with faculty to support and challenge students to strive for academic excellence
  • To foster the growth of communication and leadership skills in student tutors
  • To facilitate an active learning environment where tutors serve as role models of the learning process
  • To identify and respond to needs of emergent student populations
  • To provide online services: tutoring, workshops, advising, teaching and test preparation
  • To encourage success of first generation and low income students through timely advising and sensitive support
  • To meet or exceed objectives of the TRiO (SSS) grant
  • To offer language assimilation opportunities for international and ESL/ELL students
  • To provide accommodations to students with diagnosed needs
  • To serve as a resource for faculty
