THIRD ANNUAL COMMUNITY INTERPRETING CERTIFICATE SYMPOSIUM AND GRADUATION CELEBRATION AT VITERBO UNIVERSITY MAY 5

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The third annual Community Interpreting Certificate Symposium and Graduation Celebration will be held from 9–11 a.m. Sunday, May 5 in the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center FSPA Lobby.

The theme of this year’s event is “Harmonizing Sight and Sound.” It will include a keynote address by trilingual interpreter Annette Rodríguez Ortiz of Puerto Rico, poster presentations from the students, and the awarding of certificates.

Seven students will graduate this year, making a total of 86 since the program’s inception in 2010. Graduates provided language services in at least four U.S. states, 26 cities, and Nicaragua.

“I am proud of our student-graduates,” said Michelle Pinzl, Viterbo faculty member and director of the Community Interpreting Certificate program. “Their voices, and those for whom they facilitate communication, resound in La Crosse, surrounding communities, and well beyond.”

The event is free and open to the public. At its conclusion, graduates and guests are welcome to enjoy tacos, tamales, and refreshments provided by local community members.
